The Corporate Reputation Business Monitor (Merco) distinguished Mr. Carlos Slim with the Merco 2014 trophy recognizing him as Mexico’s businessman with the best reputation.  Representing Mr. Carlos Slim, Roberto Slim Seade received the award during ceremony where results of the nation-wide survey on Corporate Reputation were presented.  In this second edition of the survey over 100 renowned national and international companies participated.

Mr. Justo Villafañe, Merco’s Director, announced the results of the Corporate Reputation Survey applied in Mexico, as well as the corresponding methodology.  In order to recognize the businessman with the best reputation, Merco looks into a set of variables that include: strategic vision and achievement of goals; commercial vision; team work; advocate of ethical conduct and corporate social responsibility; international projection; innovation and good communication skills.

The methodology includes consultations with several types of people, such as members of boards of directors, NGOs, consumer associations, trade unions, among others. Merco began operations in Spain in 2000.  It aims at evaluating, on a yearly basis, the reputation of companies and business leaders in Spain, several Latin American and European countries.  Evaluations also consider corporate responsibility and governance, from an independent, rigorous and plural stance.
