The Government of the Principality of Asturias, the Montevideo Circle Foundation, and the Council of Avilés, organized “The Renaissance of Ethics” journeys, framed within their 27th Plenary Meeting, held on October 26 and 27, at the Niemeyer Center.
For the first time, Asturias hosted a plenary meeting of the Montevideo Circle Foundation, one of the most relevant forums for reflection and debate in the Hispanic American world.
The Montevideo Circle is an organism founded 27 years ago by Julio María Sanguinetti, former president of Uruguay, together with other leaders and academics. Today, the Mexican Engineer Carlos Slim holds the business presidency of the Institution.
The purpose of the Montevideo Circle is no other than promoting reflection and debate on current issues from an Ibero American perspective, and has organized a number of meetings in relevant capitals of the world. Given the strong ties binding us, the election of our city to hold its 27th plenary session is particularly remarkable.
