Mr. Carlos Slim participated in ITU’s Broad-Band Leadership Summit on industry’s current global problems

The summit was organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) / UNESCO’s Broad Brand for Digital Development, being presided by Mr. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, and Mr. Carlos Slim. The summit aim is that all countries give people full access to participate in the future knowledge society. The event took place in October 24-25, 2011.
Mr. Slim pledged that broad band should be converted into a force for goodness. He announced that a data bank recording telecom best practices will be created, being supported by constantly updated statistical figures, useful information to be fully accessed from any part of the whole world.
The summit was attended by telecom’s executive directors, chiefs of state and top functionaries of several multilateral organizations, including United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) and World Intellectual Property Organization.
