June 6, 2012, Mexico City
In the inaugural tour by the works which will improve the urban space, infrastructure and road systems in that influential zone, Major Marcelo Ebrard highlighted Mr. Carlos Slim and his team attitude, participation and commitment in building that new infrastructure, and pointed out that “the related investment is big and will benefit a former industrial zone, which has gone in abandonment and deterioration.”
The inaugurated works will benefit both drivers and community because they provide them a restored and functional public space, infrastructure and roads to be enjoyed for people.
The underway via connects Lomas de Chapultepec’s down-hill zone, from Monte Pelvoux Street down to Río San Joaquín Via, to Polanco and Colonia Granada, so facilitating fastest speed for cars.
The Parque Lineal Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca is a large corridor being built on the former railroad tracks, from Bosque de Chapultepec down to Río San Joaquín, traversing Polanco and Granada residential districts, and improving pedestrians, cyclists and drivers roads. Green areas and recreational spaces were also restored, so improving life-quality standards for residents in these districts.
When finished, the Parque Lineal Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca will harbor museums, sport places, children’s games, bike road, art shows and stores.
