Mr. Carlos Slim opened the 2015 edition of Telcel - Infinitum Digital Village, the largest digital inclusion event in the world, held for third consecutive year in Mexico City's Zocalo Plaza. He was accompanied by representatives from the federal and city governments, as well as by other distinguished personalities.

The ribbon cutting opening ceremony of Telcel’s 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village was presided by the Chairman of the Carlos Slim Foundation, Mr. Carlos Slim Helú; the President of America Movil, Carlos Slim Domit; and the General Directors of TELMEX, Hector Slim Seade and TELMEX Foundation, Arturo Elías Ayub. They were accompanied by Dr. Miguel Angel Mancera Espinoza, Mayor of Mexico City; Alejandra Lagunes Soto, Coordinator of the National Digital Strategy at the office of the President of Mexico; Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, Secretary of Communications and Transport; Monica Aspe Bernal, Undersecretary of Communications; Enrique Jacob Rocha, Undersecretary of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises; Gerardo Gutierrez Candiani, President of Mexico’s Business Coordinating Council; María Castro, Vice minister of Education in Panama; Michio Kaku, renowned scientist in the USA; Sheik Bahreim Abdullah Bin Isa; Jean Todt, President of FIA; Emerson Fittipaldi, auto racing world icon and Mexico Grand Prix ambassador; José Abed, Vice-president of FIA; Mauricio Arrivabene, Principal of the Ferrari Formula One team; Roberto Tapia Conyer, General Director of the Carlos Slim Foundation; Fernando Suinaga Cárdenas, President of the Mexican Red Cross and Sergio (Checo) Pérez, Formula One driver.
During the ceremony, participants were informed that the 2015 edition of Telcel’s 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village will be open for 17 days, from July 10 to 26. The Village will offer a range of activities to people of all ages, regardless of their level of education or digital knowledge. This will happen through over 50 conferences and 30 workshops were technology is used to foster education, training for employment, health, business, innovation, entrepreneurship, culture and human development, among other relevant issues.

- Telcel's 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village opens in Mexico City's main square, the Zocalo Plaza. The Village offers a technological display of 100 Gigabytes speed navigation as well as a wide array of workshops, courses and conferences. The Village showcases information technologies as a means to foster education, training for employment, health, business, innovation, entrepreneurship, culture and human development.
- The Village is open free of cost to the general public from July 10 to 26, from 10 am to 10 pm.
Today, Telcel's 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village opened in Mexico City's main square, the Zocalo Plaza. Its aim is to offer to a larger number of Mexican nationals the possibility to access technologies as a means to improve their education, training for employment, health, business, innovation, entrepreneurship, culture and human development.
The opening ceremony of the largest digital inclusion event in the world was presided by Mr. Carlos Slim Domit, Chairman of America Movil. He ratified the commitment of the companies integrating the Grupo Carso conglomerate to the development of Mexico. "In Mexico we contribute and will continue contributing significantly to the digital development of our country; we will keep on supporting important programs in investment, training, innovation and permanent improvement; we are conscious of how important it is for Mexico to have modern infrastructures, as an essential and crucial way to access this new era of opportunities". He further added that according to what Mr. Carlos Slim Helú has expressed, we are conscious that we are no longer living in an era of change, but a change of era. This means we face a new paradigm of a more connected society, more participatory, better informed, and above all a more inclusive society. In this new era, telecommunications and information technologies play the role of a central nervous system, where universal access and inclusion are instrumental to level off the playing field of opportunities for all.
Mr. Slim Domit announced the launch of an Innovation and Development Center that, along with the Technology and Innovation Center, will focus on the research, analysis and exploration of the best projects, apps and breakthroughs in technological innovation worldwide. This will be mainly aimed at the health, education and technological sectors, among others, in order to analyze their potential to innovate with high impact projects benefiting our society.
Finally, Mr. Slim Domit stated that "we live in a new era, an era where the largest retail chain in the world has no shops, where the largest school in the world has no classrooms and where society is no longer identified to a particular country and its borders; this era opens up a world of opportunities because it is based on a principle of inclusion and participation for all. Welcome to the largest digital inclusion event in the world."

During 17 days, Telcel's 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village will offer a range of activities to people of all ages, regardless of their level of education or digital knowledge. Furthermore, over 50 world-class speakers will be present. Participants include Erick Lander, founder of the Broad Institute and one of the world leaders in the human genome project; Steve Wozniak co-founder of Apple; Jim Messina, former Whitehouse Deputy Chief of Staff; Michio Kaku, one of the world's most renowned scientists, among many others.
The Digital Village will also showcase university projects in innovation and entrepreneurship (the main forum will present educational institutions participating in the Academica program, where they will share experiences and ideas about projects implemented with universities). The Village will include an Entrepreneurial Platform, a dynamic exhibition pavilion to present start-ups, innovative projects with a good business idea and high added value.
The Digital Village 2015 will provide technological experiences, training for development as well as a wide entertainment area.
People visiting Telcel's 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village will be able to navigate at a speed of 100 Gigabytes, the fastest and best existing technology, equivalent to one million simultaneous on-line players, 500 thousand people listening to online music or more than 25 thousand persons watching a film in HD Claro Video. Moreover, the Village will benefit from total WiFi coverage, Telcel's 4GLTE coverage inside the pavilions and over 1,500 computers. In order to support this event, TELMEX has displayed across the Zocalo Plaza a network of more than 125 kilometers of optical fiber and Ethernet cable connected to the nation network of over 194 thousand kilometers of fiber optics owned by the company.
Telcel's 4GLTE- Infinitum Digital Village is an inclusive event of worldwide proportions. In addition to its installation in Mexico City's Zocalo Plaza, the Village welcomes all Mexican nationals, across the country, through its online activities: aldeadigitalmx.com, providing free of cost courses, workshops, training sessions and conferences by world leaders in technology.
