Grupo Carso and the Carlos Slim Foundation informed, through a press release, the actions they will undertake to support the general population in the face of the health emergency caused by COVID-19.

Mexico City, March 24, 2020

Grupo Carso and the Carlos Slim Foundation are taking actions to support the general population to cope with the health emergency caused by COVID-19.

1. The COVID-19 health emergency measures can cause the temporary closure of some facilities; however, employees of Grupo Carso will keep their jobs during the contingency.
2. The Carlos Slim Foundation will allocate One Thousand Million Pesos for actions in the following fields:

Health

• Support equipment for critical patients in national health institutes including ventilators, ecosonographs and video laryngoscopes.
• Protection equipment for health care personnel.
• Sanitation and disinfection supplies for critical spaces in public hospitals.
• Support to strengthen the medical diagnostic capacity in Mexico.
• Support to hospital reconditioning to attend COVID-19 patients.

E-Learning

• In alliance with the Secretariat for Public Education (Secretaría de Educación Pública) (SEP), students of the public elementary education system can access the Prueba T platform, developed by the Carlos Slim Foundation.

Carso COVID-19 Protocol for Employees and Clients Protection

• General prevention measures and dissemination of health practices in different spaces, both at work and at home.
• Special protection for risks groups: People above 55 years old, people with chronic diseases and pregnant women.
• Home isolation for employees with symptoms of respiratory infections and those diagnosed with COVID-19, or having had contact with people diagnosed with COVID-19.
• Contagion prevention measures against COVID-19 in the facilities: frequent cleaning of work spaces, home office schemes; cancellation of travels, work meetings and events.
• Health policies for employees’ dining rooms, cleaning and security personnel, and telephone call centers.
