América Móvil Joins (RED)


Mexico City, December 1st, 2011. América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V. (“América Móvil”). América Móvil and Carlos Slim Foundation join World’s Forum Initiative (RED) to achieve a HIV/AIDS-Free generation by 2015.

Through its subsidiaries Claro, Telcel, and Comcel, América Móvil will ask its 300 million users to join efforts to (RED)’s campaign to have an AIDS-Free generation by 2015 by starting in 2012.

Through an alliance with (RED), América Móvil is committed to contribute one million dollar annually during the next four years in support to marketing and awareness efforts to eradicate mother-to-children HIV/AIDS transmission by 2015.

On the other hand, Carlos Slim Foundation is committed to contribute additional four million dollars to the same cause.

The event “The Beginning of the End of AIDS” carried out today in Washington, DC, was attended by President Barack Obama, former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, doctor Sanjay Gupta, Deborah Dugan, (RED) chairman, Alicia Keys, Bono, Bobby Shriver, and Mr. Carlos Slim, who stated:

We are proud in announcing our alliance with (RED), which will extend our campaign to our entire Latin American networks, to encourage our users to contribute to the World’s Forum to eradicate Mother-to-Children HIV/AIDS transmission by 2015. We are joyful in joining (RED)’s trademark network efforts because we are sure that we all together will help to eradicate HIV/AIDS world’s calamity.”

Bono, famous U2 rock-band singer and leading advocate for that campaign, stated that “…He (Mr. Slim) links millions of users through his manifold networks, so by communicating all of them, we will be able to achieve our own aim.”
